SUMMARY:Ocean Lovers Art Show for Oceanic Global by Selva Ozelli
DESCRIPTION:Ocean Lovers – Angelfish art show by artist Selva Ozelli for CUHK Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change\, Hong Kong celebrates the role of the oceans in our everyday life and inspires action to protect reefs which occupy only 0.1 per cent of the global sea surfaces. But more than 25 per cent of marine biodiversity including Angelfish are supported by them. \nCecilia Lam\, Chief Sustainability Officer\, Director of Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change and Director of the Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Office at The Chinese University of Hong Kong\, explained\, “Beneath Hong Kong’s towering skyline lies a hidden treasure—rolling mountains and a vibrant sea. Few realize that our waters host a coral diversity surpassing even the Caribbean. At the Marine Science Laboratory of CUHK\, dedicated researchers work tirelessly to restore coral reefs damaged by urbanization and pollution\, breathing life back into the ocean’s fragile beauty while pioneering innovative ways to enhance coral resilience in the face of a changing climate.

SUMMARY:The Future of the Oceans and Seas - Conference on International Ocean Governance
DESCRIPTION:The large number of participants at the 3rd UN Ocean Conference in Nice clearly demonstrated the growing global importance of the oceans and seas. A wide range of different events at the conference reflected the entire spectrum of marine policy issues and at the same time reflected the very different interests. This year’s conference in Berlin will therefore provide a review of UNOC 2025 on the one hand and address the current debates on the tension between the protection and sustainable use of the oceans and seas on the other. \nThe current geopolitical upheavals and growing competition are increasingly being reflected in the oceans. This not only affects maritime security policy and shipping\, but changes are also taking place internationally in marine research and maritime raw materials policy. Changes that are ultimately far-reaching in nature and even call into question the basic rules of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea\, while on the other hand BBNJ is about to enter into force\, which is a success of multilateral cooperation and is intended to extend the reach of the law of the sea.
