SUMMARY:VOICES OF THE OCEAN (VOCES DEL OCÉANO)
DESCRIPTION:Voices of the Ocean is a local initiative for science outreach\, environmental education\, and community engagement designed to celebrate World Oceans Day in San Carlos and Guaymas\, Sonora\, Mexico\, on June 6 and 7\, 2026. The project comprises six complementary experiences: exploration of the rocky intertidal zone\, an introductory snorkeling workshop\, a public panel interview with local experts\, a public forum on the legal defense of whales and marine ecosystems\, a private networking dinner with sponsors\, and a follow-up educational maritime trip around San Carlos seascapes. The initiative promotes ocean literacy\, experiential learning\, safety in coastal and marine activities\, critical thinking\, civic engagement\, and a conservation ethic based on respect for the biodiversity of the Gulf of California. The event aims to establish itself as a permanent regional platform for education\, ocean culture\, and collective action for marine protection.
