SUMMARY:The Ocean Breathes Station
DESCRIPTION:At the historic railway station of Amsterdam Beach in Zandvoort\, artist Margot Berkman invites visitors into a poetic world inspired by the sea. Through bronze sculptures\, intricate drawings\, and monumental hanging soft sculptures\, her work explores the beauty\, mystery\, and vulnerability of our oceans. Each piece reflects years of research into marine life\, seaweed\, currents\, and humanity’s connection to water. The studio-gallery offers a unique opportunity to experience contemporary art in an extraordinary setting and to acquire original artworks directly from the artist. A visit is an inspiring journey into the depths of the underwater world and a memorable destination in Zandvoort.

SUMMARY:World Ocean Day 2026: Makatumbe Island Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:As part of commemorating World Ocean Day 2026\, Sana Mare Tanzania\, and Mazingira Konekti are organizing an island conservation event under the theme “Islands for Tomorrow: Clean\, Conserve\, Connect.” The event will take place at Makatumbe Island Marine Reserve and will bring together environmental organizations\, community members\, youth\, conservation practitioners\, and ocean advocates to take collective action for the protection of Tanzania’s coastal and marine ecosystems. \nThe program combines practical conservation activities with environmental education and networking opportunities. Participants will engage in a Beach Cleanup to remove marine litter from the island and surrounding shoreline\, followed by a WABA (Waste Assessment and Brand Audit) exercise to collect data on the types and sources of waste found. The event will also feature an Eco Tour of Makatumbe Island Marine Reserve\, providing participants with an opportunity to explore the island’s natural and ecological significance\, as well as an Eco Dialogue Session where stakeholders can exchange ideas\, experiences\, and solutions for advancing marine conservation and sustainable ocean stewardship. \nIt is an opportunity to learn\, connect\, and strengthen our shared commitment to protecting marine ecosystems while fostering collaboration among organizations and individuals working towards a cleaner and healthier ocean.
