SeaAhead and Peace Boat are working together to host two Ocean Innovation 'Free Swims' during UN World Oceans Week 2020
About this Event
'Free Swims' are open forums that allow ocean innovators to connect, exchange strategies and resources, get support, and share challenges. This is an opportunity to break out into smaller discussion groups, allowing you to connect with peers and strengthen relationships.
Since its inception in 2008, UN World Oceans Day, June 8, has celebrated the ocean and its importance to the planet and our lives, while raising awareness about the many threats it faces. As the challenges to the ocean continue to grow, so does the need for novel solutions and the people driving them.
The theme of UN World Oceans Day 2020 is “Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean.” Innovation is a dynamic term, and one that is fundamentally filled with hope. This year, the UN World Oceans Day will be celebrated from June 1 - 14 with virtual events that shed light on innovations from around the globe. It will provide a platform to leaders from diverse backgrounds who are paving new paths forward for the health of our ocean and our planet as a whole.
Format: Three presentation from a panel of experts (5-10 minutes) followed by 45 minutes - 1 hour of virtual networking using Zoom breakout rooms.

- Peter Battisti - Executive Director at Future of Fish
- Courtney Boyd Myers - CEO & CMO at AKUA
