Ocean Data can generate huge business value, and improve the environment; when it is easy to find, understand, and use by millions for whom it was never intended. Data creates value when it is utilized and it is the purpose of the Ocean Data Alliance to radically increase the utility of ocean data by magnifying the audience that can use it.
At this event we will explore how to monetize ocean data by instrumenting New York Harbor with low cost ocean sensors that citizen data scientists can use to survey urban traffic above ground and marine life beneath the waves and create a new concept of a Smart Ocean City.
We are partnering with the United Nations, The Economist World Ocean Initiative, and the amazing New Lab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard to meet on June 5th.
Ocean Data Alliance members will also be invited to join World Ocean Day at the United Nations on June 7th.
