Through collaboration with PMEC affiliates during spring 2020, students investigated, evaluated, and analyzed information pertaining to wave energy and the perceptions of Pacific Northwest coastal stakeholders. This work updates and expands upon a previous examination of the human dimensions of coastal energy development in the US based on research in Oregon from over ten years ago. Join us to learn about the expanded scope and any shifts that may have occurred over the past decade that will help PMEC effectively execute our mission of responsibly advancing marine energy. The presentation will address the following:

• Findings from a pilot survey of Oregon coastal stakeholders regarding public perceptions of wave energy

• Policy analysis on spatial planning and licensing process of marine resources and energy integration

• Findings from interviews exploring the challenges and opportunities of connecting marine energy supply to the power grid

• Content analysis of the permitting process for wave energy in the United States and internationally
