Women and the Ocean - that is the fitting focus of World Ocean Day this year. It reminds us that probably 50% of workers along the fish value chain are women - but data are for the most part missing except for some case studies - one of the many things to change for healthy oceans, prosperious and sustainable fisheries and respectful conditions ensured for women, men and ocean life. Brussels kicked off again the series of events by Mundus maris and its partners on three continents to celebrate World Ocean's Day.

Naipunnya School of Management celebrated World Oceans Day in collaboration with UNDP Ocean Action Hub. As part of the celebrations Fr. George Mavumkoottathil inaugurated the event by giving a message on ocean conservation for future generations as well as contemporary world. Students from the college under the 'Ocean Action Hub' club actively participated in the cleaning activities on the shores of Arabian Sea in Andhakaranazhi beach area.

And this time, it’s for crisis talks. The IPCC’s latest report was crystal clear: cut carbon emissions as much as possible and as fast as possible, to mitigate the effects of climate change. What concrete action can we, as science engagement organisations, take now to rise to this challenge?

La Saison Bleue propose en trois mois un véritable circuit culturel, scientifique, économique, touristique, qui s’adressera directement à un public estimé à 2 voire 3 millions de personnes.

A l’initiative de l’Accord RAMOGE, avec son partenaire le Centre Permanent d’Initiatives pour l’Environnement Iles de Lérins et Pays d’Azur (CPIE), et de la Ville de Cannes, une journée de sensibilisation « Du littoral aux abysses » se tiendra le 8 juin à Cannes, à l’occasion de la journée mondiale des Océans. Cet évènement permettra de sensibiliser le grand public à la beauté et à la fragilité du monde sous-marin.
