Commemorating UN World Oceans Day 2022 in Kenya

The Kenya National Commission (KNATCOM) for UNESCO in collaboration with the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, Technical University of Mombasa, and UNESCO-IOC through its Sub-commission for Africa have the pleasure to invite you to the 2022 UN World Oceans Day celebrations to be held in a VIRTUAL MODE on 8th June 2022. 

The theme for the 2022 UN World Oceans Day is Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean This event is meant to provide a platform to celebrate our world’s shared ocean and   personal connection to the sea, raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays and opportunities for sustainable development, highlight the threats facing this ecosystem and the  important ways people can help protect it.  

Consistent with the theme of this year’s celebrations, the event will be in the form of presentations on the UN Decade for Ocean Science and Sustainable Development, Panel discussions on threats from ocean plastic pollution and current interventions including research.
