The five pillars of sustainable development The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development allows for activities to be organized around five pillars of planet earth, population, prosperity, peace and partnerships. Planet earth Protecting the planet is essential to meet the needs of present and future generations. Therefore, it is imperative to preserve air quality, sustainable use of food and water, and enjoy a rich and resourceful biodiversity. It is also necessary to curb climate change in order to achieve these goals and protect citizens from climate disasters.

Population: The sustainable development of countries is based on observing the principles of dignity and equality between persons. Combating poverty, ensuring universal access to medical care and food, ensuring quality education, and ensuring gender equality are basic conditions for a sustainable and egalitarian society. Prosperity: The development of nations requires the achievement of comprehensive economic prosperity that takes into account the environment. In order to ensure peace and prosperity, science, technology and innovation must be made available to all in order to achieve development with a human dimension. Peace: Conflict mitigation and peacebuilding and peacebuilding are essential factors for creating prosperous and sustainable societies. There is a reciprocal relationship between development and security, and neither of them can be achieved without the other. Partnerships: Achieving the SDGs presupposes the establishment of a new global system of partnership and solidarity. Comprehensive partnerships built on a common vision and common goals focused on people and the planet are essential at the global, regional, national and local levels. Therefore, solidarity between nations and with civil society, non-governmental organizations and the private sector alike must be strengthened. How is the global monitoring of the implementation of the sustainable development goals conducted? At the international level, the high-level political forum occupies a central position in the follow-up of the implementation of the sustainable development goals, as it annually establishes a forum for discussion open to institutional and non-institutional actors in the field of sustainable development.
