For the second time in four years and a first since the Covid pandemic, IFF Global Seawed Sourcing and UD Rahmat Bahari organized a beach cleanup by about 150 women seaweed farmers in Suana Village, Semaya, Nusa Penida Island, Bali, Indonesia in celebration of the 2022 World Oceans Day last July 7, 2022.

In coordination with the village government who provided a mini-lecture on plastic waste management, the event aimed to reinforce the role of women farmers as custodians of the marine sustainability. About 20 sacks of solid plastic waste were collected and turned over to the village solid waste collection for proper disposal.

IFF buys sustainable seaweed from Indonesia for its carrageenan processing plant in Rockland, Maine, USA. UD Rahmat Bahari is its strategic seaweed supplier in the region.
