Gili Lankanfushi is hosting a week of Ocean and Sustainability related activities, workshops and presentations for guests and hosts for World Ocean’s week from June 1st to 8th. Our World Ocean’s Week celebrations will be hosted by our marine biology and sustainability team. Fish identification snorkels and Ocean Series presentations will be running throughout the course of the week. Other scheduled events such as a guided tour of our Eco-Center, an Environmental Hour discussing climate change, and Ocean Life Sand Castle Competitions will occur on World Environment Day (June 5th) and World Ocean’s Day (June 8th), respectively. There will also be an interactive workshop (June 2nd) focusing on our Coral Lines Project, where we asexually propagate corals for the benefit of restoring our house reef.
The objectives of World Ocean’s Week 2022 at Gili Lankanfushi are to educate and excite our guests and hosts, to engage with our environment in order to inspire attitudes to protect, preserve and nurture our marine ecosystems.
