Ocean explorer Victor Vescovo will show never-before-seen footage of damage to deep-sea ecosystems caused by humans, which has not recovered even after decades of inactivity. He will then highlight similar dangers deep-sea mining will cause, and analyze the financial downsides of this new industry that is rushing to exploit the last, untouched ecosystem on Earth. Dr. Alexander More—Chair of Climate Week— an environmental health scientist, will comment on the probably negative effects of deep-sea mining for climate change. The event will take place at the Explorers Club on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, 5:30PM.
