World Ocean Week – Ocean Culture Life

World Ocean Week (WOW) is Ocean Culture Life’s flagship initiative, celebrating the ocean as the lifeblood of our planet.

Designed to inspire collective action, WOW 2025 will bring together communities, businesses, and global voices to protect our blue planet through impactful storytelling, education, and tangible action.

WOW is not just an event—it’s a movement. Over the past three years, this initiative has fostered meaningful connections, engaged thousands, and driven awareness for ocean conservation at local, regional, and global levels.

Week Highlights:

June, 1: Exhibition Launch & Family Ocean Day (10AM – 9PM)
– ALL DAY: Local Art Exhibition

June, 2 – 4: School Workshops (8:30AM – 2:45PM)
– 300 young people will participate in OCL’s ocean conservation storytelling workshop, encouraging creative expression and environmental awareness.

June, 6: Livestream Classroom (10:30AM – 11:30AM)
– A free accessible livestream classroom, ensuring broader reach and inclusion across the Channel Islands. In partnership with The Black Mermaid Foundation.

June, 6: Ocean Narrative Challenge Awards (12:30PM – 2PM)
– Ocean Narrative Challenge (KS4) awards ceremony & exhibition.

June, 6: Zandi’s Song Live Book Reading (4PM – 5PM)
– Join us for a magical afternoon of ocean storytelling with Zandile Ndhlovu – author, storyteller, and ocean advocate!
– Zandile, affectionately known as The Black Mermaid, joins us from South Africa for this special event as part of World Ocean Week. She’ll be reading from her incredible children’s book, Zandi’s Song, a vibrant tale of courage, heritage, and connection to the ocean, inspired by her own journey – Secure your spot via our website

June, 6: Stories of the Sea (5PM – 10:30PM)
– BYO (Plastic-Free) Picnic & Drinks
– 5PM: Exhibition Opens
– 6PM: Ocean Stories Panels & Talks

June, 7: The Big Ocean Cleanup (11AM – 1:30PM)
– In collaboration with Bouley Bay Dive Centre and the support of Ports of Jersey, Bouley Bay Dive Centre will be hosting a beach clean with OCL.
– You can help clean up for World Oceans Day 2025 by scuba diving, snorkelling, freediving, paddle boarding, or land cleaning.
– It’s totally free to join us on World Oceans Day. There will be a limited amount of free kit hire for the chosen activity, first come, first served ( this must be pre-booked). If you have your own kit, please bring that so we can offer our limited FREE supply to those who don’t own their own – Secure your spot via our website
